Show ranks of the Seventies by new ordinations. October 3 Went to the Fair Ground t '1is a.m. and in the · evening took the folks ou t. A good display especially of stock, horses, an~ cattle were e.x; .. cellent. Vegetables and fruits only medium owing to the drought. I An imm ense crowd of people. Octo bel> ··4 Conference met at 10 a.m. with a fair attendance and more of the General .Authorities than usual. The speaking was dictated by the spirit and the quiet, · calmness of the people was very noticeable. The· attendance at the 2 p.m. meeting was an increase on the forenoon services as to numbers. · · · · October 5 Conference met at 10 a.m. The number of people ? radually increasing. A number of the Elders and Authorities spoke. A prominent theme seems to be the lack of union amon.g the people 19 which was strongly wei ghed a gainst. 1 The afternoon meeting was well atterned and much g ood counsel £Siven. A general r rie sthood meetin ~ held at . 7:30 p.m. and it was largely attended. Addressed by President Woodruff and Cannon. October 6 The large Taberr.ac le was full to overflowing. The General Authorities of the church w~re presented and the names of Mariam 1V . Mer·rill, Antoine H. Lund, and A.. H. Cannon were added to the c~uorum of the Apostles and sustained by the people. At the 2 p.m. meeting the .ri.SSembly Hall was t :1rown open and both buildings more than filled. After the s e rvices a meeting of the i3,take and 'lard duperintendents of 3unday ~ch o~ls and some instructions were given relative to charts and leaflets and other matters. ·A e.unday School Union Meeting was held at 7:30 largely attended and a most excellent spirit prevailed. October 7 Assis.ted a number of the brethren to get railw ;.:;.y rates. October 8 Met with the brethren of the council and the Twelve and set a number of Elders apart as missionaries to various parts of the world, after which much valuable instruction was i mparted by a number of the brethren. |
