Show 1873, Nov . 6 Forward comes the Fourteenth Ward, the first to dispense with illuminating oils· and to light. their handsome Assembly Rooms with gas . Mitchell and James have been engaged for some time arranging . and fixing up the necessary fittings , which will be completed in time to admit of the rooms being lighted up with gas, for the f irst time, to-morrow night, when a party will be held there. The gas mains are within reach of the more central school and meeting houses, and, seeing that the Fourteenth ward people have led out in this direction, who is going to follow suit and be the next? 1874, May 13 Last evening a branch of the United Order was organized in the 14th ward, the following being the officers elected-. Taylor, Librarian. 1877, NOV-• . 21 The Presidency of the Stake met with the Elders, Priests, Deacons of the Fourteenth and Seventeenth wards . I President A.M. Cannon, in his opening remarks, explained that inasmuch as Elder Edward W. Davis had been sustained as the President of the El·;· ers ' Quorum at Conference , he would preside · over the Elders ' Quorum 0orhposed of the Elders in the Fourteenth ,and Seventeenth Wards , which would be called ·the First Q,uorum of Elders in this Stake of Zion. Both of· his Counselors, who were sustained at Conference, being Seventies, the Preiident would be under the necessity of choosing ~ther . s to .fill their place, and the following brethren were unanim~ usly sustained in the ~o~itions named: Edward W.
