Show Present: Absent: CERTIFICATION COMMITTEE MEETING January 25, 1969 J. Phil Jones Dave Parkinson Lou Lorenz Woody Anderson Clark T. Parkinson Adrien Segil Max Lundberg E. Glenn Evans Jack Colven Meeting was called to order at 8:00 P.M. by Phil Jones. Subject for discussion was the present Certification Policy. Lou Lorenz brought to the attention of the Committee that the policy was not revised to incorporate the registered program adopted at the latest B.O.D. Meeting. It was determined by the Committee that the policy was outdated in several areas and that a complete study should be made and that the policy be rewritten. MSC: That until such time as the policy can be rewritten to incorporate changes in the certification program, that all Ski School Directors be notified by mail of the process and procedures of the registered requirements and that a draft of the rewritten policy be submitted to the Committee prior to the April B.O.D. meeting and if approved, it should be submitted to the B~O.D. for approval. (Lorenz-Jones) MSC: That a candidate be prepared to show his advanced first aid card to the examining board on the day of the examination. (Parkinson-Anderson) The meeting was brought to a close at 11:10 p.m. Certification Committee Meeting Minutes Present: J. Phil Jones Lou Lorenz Woody Anderson Max Lundberg Clark T. Parkinson David Parkinson Glenn Evans Absent: Jack Colven November 16, 1969 The primary purpose of the Certification Committee Meeting was to review the program for the Examiners Clinic to be held on November 17, 1969. The program mailed to the membership for the Clinic was reviewed, and assignments were made to the committee members for the following day. A discussion was held regarding the approach to be taken during this season regarding the basic principle changes. Motion: That the present basic principles be used until the new changes are made official and printed in a new manual. (Lorenz-Lundberg) Motion passed and carried. A budget study presented by Clark Parkinson was reviewed by the committee. The study consisted of totaling the income and expenses for the 1968-69 ski season and determining the amount, if any, the certification program had contributed to the Association in terms of income over expenses. It was determined that there was a substantial amount of income that exceeded expenses but that until a full budget was prepared for all expenses of the Association, an exact amount could not be determined. Motion: That the examiners' reimbursement for the 1969-70 season remain $30.00. (EvansAnderson) Motion passed and carried. Motion: Since the certification policy last season was issued when a person registered, when he received a certification application, and through a Ski School Director and Certification Area Representative, the policy should only be issued from the Executive Secretary's office once when an individual registers. (C. Parkinson-D. Parkinson) Motion passed and carried. Last year's Certification Area Representatives list was reviewed by the committee, and in those ski areas were there was a question as to the desirability of the Area Representative to continue the job or the desirability of the Ski School Director to have the present Area Representative continue, the Certification Chairman was to contact the individuals and have an Area Representative appointed that would be desirable. The Certification Committee members were assigned ski schools to supervise Certification Area Representatives within those ski schools. The purpose of ) 2 this procedure was to strengthen the Area Representative program and place the responsibility of a smooth certification program with the Certification Committee.
