Show Doris N. Guss 7-9-84 Side 3, p 17 L How did your mother die? DG Oh, she died from an asthmatic attack, just strangled to death almost. And there was no one there. I was here. I had just left her in fact. She was getting along fine. That's the way it goes. L There's a cemetery up there with some •.. DG Yes, they have a nice cemetery and this Ruben family were very kind and I paid for perpetual care at that time. L And they've helped maintain it. DG And they've maintained it. You hope it's maintained. You know, what do you know? But whenever I go up there it looks pretty good. I don't know. That's the way life is. You know, I look around and I didn't have my, well, the only one that remembered the grandparents was my oldest daughter who remembered my husband's parents were still alive. Oh, my son. My son also. But the youngest one never had the privilege of knowing either grandparent. She used to be so envious of people who had grandparents, really. Just something. It was something that she felt was such a void in her life and that girl was close to her father but it's hard. It's very hard on her. They're all, all of them, they were all close. And he was close to them and to the grandchildren. They didn't have another word but sweetheart and darling as far as he was concerned. Very little did he ever call them by any other name. That's the way it goes, Leslie. People have to treasure every day of their life. Life is so beautiful if you only make it so and so important. It's not who you are, it's what you do with yourself. That is important, that is important. So that ~ou don't have any regrets, why did I do this ••• |
