Show OHI David Alder 7-1-82 s1:2~ opened up an office, andhe ' sbeen there ever since. Hems two children. One of them is an attorney, a tax attorney , who is in one of the main offices in Boston, just been taken in as a partner. He also has a degree in music. His sister is married toa Kaufman .. He travels for the University , what is he? He raises money for the University, or something. Got a big job with the University. Anyway, let's go back. Where were we. LK You were telling the ~ory about this man who came over, of how you went to Morris Rosenblatt. DA WEll, Morris wrote a letter and everything was done in a matter of several days. That's all thre is to it. The next we knew, he wrote us from Latvia and -- LK You said Morris Rosenblatt was a macher in politics. What was he doing? Do you remember? DA Well, he and Simon were running the Utah Junk Company. LK But what made him a macher? DA Oh , he had money and he was into politics. Justlike Abe Guss's brother Hymie. Hymie was in politics. He was the secretary of the Democratic Association, Party or something. LK This was duriqg the New Deal days, right? DA Well, yes, something like that. LK 1930s? DA For a man to be in politics. Izzy Wagner's in politics. I wasin izzy's office when he said, "I've got a date now with the mayor of Salt Lake." The phone rang andi answered the phone becuase he was busy on the other phone. It was the Governor calling. |
