Transcript (typescript, 86 pages) of a series of interviews with Sam Watanuki, a Japanese-American living in Utah in 1984. Mr. Watanuki (b. 1915) discusses his childhood in the Japanese camp near Tooele for workers of the U.S. Mine and Smelter, attending Japanese language school, various jobs he held (copper mine, barbering, cleaning), the LDS church, courting his first wife, and the family's experiences during World War II, including the FBI taking his father away on the evening of December 7. Father was interned at Camp Livingston, Louisiana, and came back from internment in ill-health and died; his funeral is described |
