Show OHI Yasuo Sasaki 3-31-85 sl:4 YS In third grade. 8 years old. I - And I was old enough -- SF Of course. YS And go by myself and take violin lessons, too. I was 8 years old. So !went to the lbrary and I went to music. SF Those were the two main things in - in your family's life, too. YS Yes. SF Your sisters and your other brothers. YS WE all took music instruments. But they had different interests than mine. But then all along, ah, we talked about my ancestry. At home, and since my ather corresponded with his brother who is a dentist, you know. Ah, they had - my career all mapped out. See. BEcuase grandfather is a doctor and - nothing more so, expected me to become a doctor. Because - becuase our families were qualifiedonly for that kind of limited profession, you know. SF Even though your father~d decidednot to do it. YS That'sright. SF Your son is going to do it. YS Yes. Had he been wealthy- he might have become a doctor over here. Butafter- havingchildrenmd so forth, he didn't have- I never asked him whether he ever intended to become a doctor or whated tobecome one, too. Becuase for - thefmily hd been doctors for a number of generations. Infact,I have, right ww, 1-2-3-4 cousins who are dentists. And one -2-3-4 cousins who are MDs. See. Sothat's all they know.
