Show A165E713.T 5 including spikes, blanks, and replicate analyses, which were also perfonned according to EPA and CARB methodology. Volatile Organic Compounds Emissions of volatile organic compounds (benzene, toluene, methane, total gaseous nonmethane organics) from the gas turbines were detennined using CARB Method 410A, in which integrated samples of exhaust gas were collected non-isokinetically at a single point in the turbine exhaust stack in Tedlar bags. A lung-type sampler was used to prevent sample gas exposure to pumps and rotometers. The bag samples were analyzed for benzene and toluene using gas chromatography with a photoionization detector (GC/PID) according to EPA TO-14. Cryogenic preconcentration of the gas was used to lower detection limits. The bag samples were also analyzed for methane and TGNMO according to EPA Method 25 using gas chromatography/flame ionization detection with total combustion analysis (GC/FID-TCA). Formaldehyde Emissions of fonnaldehyde from the gas turbines were detennined using CARB Method 430. Exhaust gas samples for fonnaldehyde analysis were collected non-isokinetically in acidic 2,4-dinitrophenylbydrazine (DNPH) solution contained in midget impingers at a single point in the turbine exhaust stack. Fonnaldehyde in the exhaust gas reacts with DNPH to fonn a derivative compound, which is analyzed using reverse-phase high-pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC) with an ultraviolet (UV) detector. Gaseous Emissions NOx, CO, O2 and CO2 were measured during each test condition using a Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS). N20 was measured only at the Solar Mars T14000 SoLoNOx gas turbine using a continuous nondispersive infrared (NOIR) analyzer. As with NOx , CO and O2, N20 was measured from a mUlti-point traverse of the exhaust gas duct. Emissions of NOx and CO are discussed in the following sections. These emissions are reported in units of parts per million corrected to 15 % O2 (ppmc). NOx and CO Emissions Figure 1 presents NOx emission curves for the nine turbines in units of ppm at 15 % O2 (ppmc). The General Electric Frame 3 gas turbine experienced instability during low load operation and was thus not tested below 50 % MCR. |
