Description |
This is a sympathetic ganglion but all autonomic ganglias will have similar characteristics. The neuronal cell bodies are multipolar with a large eccentric nucleus. Satellite cell nuclei are distributed between the neurons but are often separated from the neurons by a space. This space is the location of pre-ganglionic synapses onto the post-ganglionic autonomic cell bodies of the ganglion. Compare the appearance of this slide with a sensory (DRG [N13-40-1] or trigeminal ganglion. UCLA Histology Collection. |
