Show benefits such as higher and homogeneous radiant heat flux, uniform surface temperature and low pollution emission. Also, there are cost and technical advantages that may redress some of the inroads that electric radiation emitters have been making into the heating market. EXPERIMENTAL APPARATUS A schematic diagram of the experimental setup which contains the gas and air supply, radiation burner, and the measurement system is shown in Figure 1. Gas from safety circuit and ambient air from blower is premixed at an Eclipse mixer to supply the burner operation. The fiber mat surface temperatures, metal screen temperature, as well as gas temperatures at various positions were measured by a series of thermocouples. Average surface temperature was measured by an infra-red thermometer. The emissive power from the radiant burner was measured with a radiometer with a wavelength range from 0.1 to 10 urn. The combustion gas was sampled by a water cooled stainless steel sampling tube at the position near the metal screen and analyzed by the flow gas analyzer.
