Set of letters from April through August, 1897 concerning George A. Smith's to be appointed postmaster of Salt Lake City. Some are addressed to George A. Smith, while others are addressed to President-Elect William McKinley or the Postmaster General. Includes letters and telegrams from R. Adams of Layton, Utah; Henry Adams of Nephi, Utah; Senator Arthur Brown; Levi Taylor, Jr., of Kaysville, Utah; George D. Pyper at Nashville, Tennessee. Also includes an invitation to a reception on 1 March 1897 to celebrate Wilford Woodruff's 90th birthday; an invitation to the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the marriage of Mr. & Mrs. W. N. Williams, 16 July 1897; and the program for the Mutual Improvement Association banquet of 17 July 1897 |
