"!Ehat8s a red badge of courage?" KIRSCHENBAUMs "It8s the badge tint usua!3.y is hurled at you by Communists and those who have failed to take - I mean the stooges of the Cowmmlst party* • •" LYONSs "No, l«ve had it*" KIRSCHENBAUMs "Well at any rate, 1 know ~ because I8ve had it already hurled at me bj some of the legal experts of certain places* There are people who have to realize once and for all, particularly if we have a foreign policy that is geared not only to containment of the Soviet threat, but to once and for all stop the Soviet threat, they8ve got to realize that what8s happening today in the Middle East is not so much a question - of course it8s important, oil plays a very paramount intrest «-. our American foreign policy is being dictated bj the oil companies, not bj conscience and not bj justice and not by compassion* But the foreign policy of the Soviet Union is the over-riding issue in the Middle East. And it is my feeling •*« as a matter of fact, I have very good documentation for it. The Daily Worker on February -« Friday, November th® 30th, - November the 30th, only a f®w days ago -- wrote an article that would make it appear that Ben-Gurion was adevll and that Mr* Nasser - Colonel Nasser ~« was a gentleman la the Middle East dispute* It would seem to me that an attempt Is being made to over-look the real issue. I participated in a picketing of the Egyptian Consulate the other day and very proudly participated in that picketiag*" BAUMs "So did I. Walter." KIRSCHENBAUMs "But I say thiss I would have preferred to have picketed, not the puppet but the one who pulls the strings« I would have preferred to have picketed the Soviet Embassy'>•» the Soviet Embassy if I had to picket any place| to; picket that because the Soviet Embassy is not only guilty of helping and showing Nasser and giving him the blueprint by which to expel Jews from Egypt but they are also guilty of terror in Hungary which is also part of the same totalitarian pattern and they8re also guilty of the deportation of Jews from (SIC) Siberia. We have a pattern of foreiga policy in our country which elaims to be fighting the Communists, which claims that it is fighting them on the economic and all the other fronts..." |
