Show 3 Gas Burners As a utility company facing increasingly more stringent NOx emissions requirements, the El Paso Electric Company, in 1993, targeted two gas-fired units for NOx reduction. El Paso Electric's NOx reduction goals parallel the industry mandate. Consequently, El Paso Electric requested that RJM Corporation optimize the existing burners to meet NOx compliance standards. In recognition of the potential for exploring new, low NOx concepts, El Paso Electric designated Newman Generating Station Unit No. 3 as the demonstration unit for testing purposes. See Table 1. Table 1 B&W Natural Gas or Oil B&W Cylindrical Air Door Register 3x3 Front-Wall Fired Baseline NOx Emissions .68 Ib/mmBtu Figure 2 shows the baseline burner configuration. Fuel injects circumferentially (with a slight radial inward bias) from each of the sixteen gas spuds. |
