Show United Air Lines installation. The first commercial installation of the burner, now called the QLN, was at the United Air Lines maintenance facility at San Francisco Airport. The burner was retrofitted on a B&W packaged boiler similar to the current FM 10-79 design. The existing fan and windbox were used. The QLN 3.4 fired the boiler to the rated capacity of 75,000 pounds per hour. The furnace dimensions of this boiler are 6'4" wide, 8'6" high, and 23' deep to the convection section opening. The objective was to achieve the 30 ppm limit that will be in effect in the San Francisco Bay area. The burner was installed in January, 1994. Tests were conducted for ten days in February 1994. The results were 29 ppm NOx with 3% oxygen and less than 100 ppm CO at the back of the furnace. No flue gas recirculation was used. 30 20 10 Figure 4 UNITED AIRLINES RESULTS VS.
