Show ANNA TOLICH MT: Oh, your memory is good of those years. AT: Oh, yea. It is good. I wouldn't change them for anything. MT: I can imagine. It must have been ... AT: And school days. If the teacher said we're going up the canyon and bring your lunch, we thought that was something special. We played ball up there, you know, and just, you know, had fun. MT: So you did do that in school? AT: Yea, oh yea. Yea. And we had a lot of respect for the American Flag in my days. We went out and we said a pledge of allegiance and you know. And had a lot of good things. MT: Now I want to ask you. Coming here as a child of 5, how did you become a citizen. Did you have to take out papers later on or? AT: Yea, in order to qualify for American citizenship I did take some classes and I studied some of the by-laws. MT: So when did you become a citizen Anna? AT: Well, what was I, sixty? 62 or 63, something like that ... age. MT: Oh, before you got your citizenship papers? AT: No. Ask me the question again. MT: No, when did you become a citizen of the United States? AT: Yea, it was in 19 ... 19 ... lets see ... MT: Did your husband become a citizen? 52 |
