Show High Efficiency, L o w Emission Marine Vapor Control System Callidus Technologies Inc. The "Semantic" Consideration In the final analysis, combustion thermal efficiency is measured in auxiliary fuel costs, however, the D R E calculation is not as straight forward. This is not due to rigorous arithmetic but rather a definition of terms. Consider that hydrocarbons entering the combustor are not just what is coming from the vessel, which typically averages less than 1 0 % H C , but must include conditioning (typically, enrichment with methane for non-inerted vessels) to near 3 0 % H C. Additionally, auxiliary fuel can be injected separately in the combustor for low vapor flows and/or when loading inerted vessels. Obviously all the "outs" are measured in the stack, however, getting agreement on what "ins" are included for determination of the D R E is not always so easy. Emission criteria based on the amount of product loaded are equally tricky unless full operational knowledge on the conditioning system is known. 6 |
