Show REBURNING AND REPOWERING ·TECHNOLOGIES FOR THE SOLID WASTE COMBUSTION BOILER Yasuj iro Wakamura & Ryuji Samejima Takuma Co., Ltd., Osaka Kunihiro Nakazato I toh Takuma Resource Systems, Inc., New York ABSTRACT "Reburning" is the technology of injecting natural gas into the furnace in order to reduce nitorogen oxide (NOx) and carbon monoxide (CO) from the mUrHcipal sol id waste (MSW) combunstion systems. It is being developed in a joint program among Gas Research Institute, Institute of Gas Technology and Takuma Company. "Repowering" means improving overal I efficiency and increasing electric power output of the waste-to-energy faci I ity using natural gas turbine generator. The most efficient combination of steam turbine and gas turbine in relation to waste throughput should be determined as a function of the sel I ing price of electricity and the cost of natural gas. This paper wi I I review the test results of NOx reduction due to the use of reburning thchnology, and discuss the best combination of the two technologies, reburning and repowering. 1 |
