Table 8 lists the modification kits currently available for specific engine models. It is important to note that because kits are not available for other engine types, the retrofit of these other engine types will not be possible without significant R & D by the O E M . Cooper Bessemer and Dresser-Rand provide L C kits for 35 percent of all uncontrolled lean combustion engines. Controlled N O x emission levels with these kits normally range between 1 and 3 g/hp-hr, corresponding to an average N O x reduction of 85 percent from uncontrolled levels. Clean-burn kits increase engine horsepower, while lower in-cylinder temperatures decrease efficiency, increase BSFC, and increase engine life. Estimates of retrofit cost effectiveness range Table 8.
