Show q - +' ..... - . Vikings Annex Daynes up ,____ _ ~iking Soccer Array Supreme for Third Successive Season Right now is a very good time, therefore, to think about the comfort and enjoyment of the thousands of fans who will be lured up through Parley's canyon to the chilly atmosphere of Ecker hill. The fans can help immensely by realizing they are ~ dO~ gomg ~o a tea party; that they are barging out into snow blanl.:eted mountains more than a mile <' bovc sea level. The atmosphere is bound to be cold. Dress warm, if you would enjoy the thriHs of a ski tournament! • • • It might sound like needless effort to urg~folks-tol dress warm, but I have watched hundreds of eager fans gather at Ecker hill for the past several years, and actual-1 ly shivered mentally when I realized how inadequately they were cloaked for such occasions. The slush of the parking spaces and the snow at the foot of Ecker hill is not compatible with the same kind of dress that is comfortable on. the dance floor or at the theater. • • * Ski Club Plans Set of Heaters For Spectator Section Ski club ofiicials are planning more elaborate preparations this year for the comfort of their spectators. , They expect to place a number of heaters through the spectator section. These heaters will be made from metal oil drums and properly ventilated so coke can be burned in them. ·A thi:k blanket of straw will also be spread over the snow to take the chill off the underfooting. With a warming blaze near by and straw under their feet, the ski fans who pull on an extra mufiler and dig the overshoes out of the cellar can go io the tournaments fully assured of an invigorating and! pleasant afternoon. • • • Parking facilities have long been a problem at the ski hill. Plowing out lanes through the snow is hard, expensive work. Ski club officials hope eventually to hard surface at least the arterial lanes. I have :found the officials most conscientious in their efforts to make the arrangements as convenient as pos- · sible. They plan to open up more parking space nearer the actual spectator section. |
