Show SUMMARY A comprehensive program is in progress to develop in-furnace NO control measures for Italy's tangentially fired boilers. Progress to d~te has included a 15 MWt pilot-scale evaluation of ABB/C-E's CCTFS (Concentric Clustered Tangential Firing System) and a subsequent 160 MW demonstration at ENEL's Fusina Unit #2. Results of the demonstra3ion show that ENEL's coal firing target NO emissions level of 400 mg/Nm @ 6% O 2 (240 ppm @ 3% O2) can be achieved u~ing in-furnace combustion modification technology . Further pilot-scale work (15 MWt) at ABB C-E's Boiler Simulation Facility (BSF) has been completed to evaluate multi-fuel low NO firing (coal, oil, gas) technologies . Future studies will evaluate the a~plication of natural gas and oil reburning technology to multi-fuel and oil designed boilers . REFERENCES 1.
