She received her doctorate from the University of Utah in 1987 in American Community History. She taught American History classes at Brigham Young University between 1988 and 1993, and, beginning in 1993, she began teaching at the University of Utah. She was awarded the Bennion Center Service Learning Professorship in 1998. Bradley's publications include numerous articles on Utah history and many books. She is the co-author of A History of Summit County and is the author of A History of Beaver County in this series. Between 1992 and 1998 Bradley was co-editor of Dialogue: A Journal of Mormon Thought, and she also writes for the Salt Lake Tribune. She considers her most significant accomplishments to be her six children and her two grandchildren.
