John, 342 Zenz, Lola, 342 Linda King Newell (above left) graduated from Utah State University and has coau-thored Mormon Enigma: Emma Hale Smith as well as numerous articles and essays. She was a series editor for the University of Utah Press and coedited Dialogue: A Journal of Mormon Thought from 1982 to 1987. She has served on the Utah Humanities Council and as president of the Mormon History Association. She lives on a ranch near the California- Nevada border at Deep Springs College, where her husband, Jack, is president. They have four children. Vivian Linford Talbot (above right) teaches history at Weber State University in Ogden. She received a B.A. degree from Weber State in 1989 and an M.A. from Brigham Young University in 1992. She was born in California but has resided in Utah since 1955. She and her husband, Grant, raised six children while living in Bountiful and now reside in Centerville. She has written articles on the American West for various publications, and her book on the life of mountain man David E. Jackson was published in 1996.
