Show reaction to crack the chlorine from the molecule, may be sufficient for the purposes of our work, and should be examined in further detail. Since the TECA likely passes through the nonane flame before igniting or oxidizing, it may be necessary to also account for the presence of radicals in the nonane flame, which would serve to couple these processes. The theory and experimental evidence4 that blending wastes with a lower volatility fuel delays droplet extinction by preventing rapid vaporization of the fuel suggests that the combustion processes are distillationlimited. However, it is important to understand the chemical reactions which drive vapor concentration gradients in order to make a general recommendation concerning the volatility of the blended fuel. Future studies should focus on the coupling between vaporization, diffusion, and chemical reaction sub-models. Future trajectory models should address droplet drag and gasification rates in more detail. The next step would be extending the model to two dimensions and providing some coupling to the full Navier-Stokes solution. An example of this coupling is the effect of droplet heat-up and internal circulation on mass transfer, and therefore drag 7 • 10 |
