Description In this letter, Issac Higbee wrote to Brigham Young seeking counsel for "the course they should take respecting the Indians." According to the letter, the Mormon settlers' relationship with the surrounding Indian peoples had deteriorated in the weeks prior to the letter. Higbee described Indian use of guns toward settlers, Higbee explained the attempts that both parties made at peace, but that continued misunderstandings between the two groups created additional tensions.
