Our last issue introduced you to ~~-, ~:;. new Vicar of St l·ary of the ;'Loonlight, Fa t her Harold Edmonson. N01-i we can tell you about one of his most grac j)U :;", acts: A meeting of layworkers of the Episcopal Church in Navajoland was held in the meeting-room of the Vicarage on October 2nd, to which we were invited. When the business had been attended to Father Erunonson turned it into a celebration of the 67th Anniversary of my ordination (October 4, 1914). Of course a speech was called for, but I rrade that short, needless to say! And a Good time was had by all. A bit of bad news: I had a fall Hhile on my daily walk and injured my ri.ght knee. Fortunately nothing broken or strained , but the injury caused a lot of fluid to collect around the knee, which was excessively painful, to the extent that I couldn't walk even to a car. So my "family" sent for the amb !." lan '~ · and 1: was rushed to the nearby 7th Day Adventist Hospital, where I ~~s given excellent care - ~pj. a week in bed. I just can't begin to tell you of the excellent care they {;ave me there. I'any visitors from near and far came to see me, and continue to do so now that I'm home and once aGain able to walk - with the aid of my two trusty canes. The only hardship is tr~t I can carry nothing - both hands are needed for rm.lkin ~ -- pray for I:Ie, my beloved ones! But life is not only whining over my i nformities; our life with the Lord is of primary importance, and we rejoice in having the Hew Testament to reveal His words and deeds. And did you ever notice that the only place our Lord is quoted in the Bible as using the term "New Testament" is in connection with the Holy Eucharist? (>attheu 26:28) And on tha t subject, we Catholics, whether :Lioman or An2,;lican, are often accused of "put t ing the Church ahead of the Bible." The correct response to t hat is , "the Lord did that -- He ) put the Church here on earth before the books of the Hew Testament ~'lere vrri tten -- just as God the Father did with the Old Testament. ~L t is not unfair to say that the Church wrote the Nev: Testament. as the Hebreu Church wrote the Old Testament - - of cou:r;se, God inspired both churches as to what to write. 1f we didn't rave The Church, we would not have the Bible. Think about that. I . still kee::>. q'i) j t~ .busy " though supposedly retired. 1 enjoy my correspondence with the many d~~ r friends \',fho write me , and I enjoy visits from our :Navajo friends J liho drop in every so often to check on me! And of cour~' ~ ~ enjoy the privilege of daily offering the Holy Sacrifice at the altar of our little Oratory chapel, remembering as I do so our many generous benefactors and personal friends and relatives, both living and dead. Also, I am glad to be here to assist, the Vicar by celebrating the Sunday Eucharist on the rare occasions when he has to be elsewhere . . ~nd Helen .... .2.:/ .'::; : As hundreds of our readers knOH , handsome yount; ~ Ia tthew Holiday made a spectacular recovery from many months of coma in hospitals.
