Show in g1. ving us new friends. Betty I Crocker has de clared a moratorium on all projects after Dec. 31st. However, we do have quite a number of surplus coupons, so , in response to an anguished plea from Joan (who copes with our mailinglist), we have asked General Mills to approve a project for an addre~sing machine - if they do, we can just make it, we think , before the deadlinel , Now, while we ' re thanking people , let us not forget the Lord of all creation, Who sent us clouds and threats of rain in t he forenoon of the celebration day, but sunshine in our glorious vall ey in the afternoon and evening . Father Fl ann O.F.M. lent us the tables on which the food was served. Two of his fellow Franciscans had to dig their car ou~ of the sand. but arrived in time for most of the Page J , !f18 service. The picture above right shows part of the procession into the church, and also affords a gli mpse of the congregation, which comprised a good number of Navajos. The Bishop's mitre is barely visible at the end . But a face that is completely visible (center.right) i s that of Dan Benally, the f irst Navajo in Utah to receive Baptism standing upl And he has stood for the Faith on many occasions during the ensuing years. Below, we show a picture of Joan, as she offered a final prayer. For us all, it was a glorious and happy occasion and, at the riak of overdoing an old gag, we repeat Father Liebl er's now famous dictum: "All I did was get old, and anybody can do that if he's got the timel" Despite the solemn looks shown on many f aces it was really a joyous occasion, so we can close on a lighter note: So many people wrote saying, "We will be with you in spirit" that the planners began to debate how many spirits can sit on one folding-chair ••• (Angels on point of pint ) And we hope this will get to you i n t ime to bring you our best wishes for a truly Christfilled Christ mas, and as many more to come as the good Lord has allotted before He returns to claim His own •• 0 • .. |
