Show Page 2 Message # We were especially pleased that Fr. Flann, O.F. M. of Kayenta could be t here ; he is Pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. You see him laying his hand on the stone, at the right. Also it was a privilege to have the Rev. John Beck of the Presbyterian Mission there, despite his being very busy with preparations for departure for 8 new field of work the fo110wine day. The Refreshment Committee consisting entirely of Navajo ladies had everyt ,hing ready, and did a beautiful .lob; ]\irs. Dan Phillips (mother of the contractor) and her daughters Emma and Lily; several, like Dottie Stanley and Frances Holiday left Memorial Day parties and visiting relatives to be on hand. Pa'rllo Krucero deserves more than a brief notice. He is a carpenter; like his JV18ster and ours. but with a unique ministry--using postal facilities in an a'ttention-arre'sting manner. He helped us build our house four yeArs ago, and hai been making doors and frames here for the church. He volunteers his services, thus saving us many dollars. Alas, he must return to his Joshua Tree home soon, probably before you read this, but we hope he can come back to work on the roof when \</e get ready for that. And, speakine of do11ar·s, you may be wondering how we are getting 811 this aone. Well, we have on hand a few thousand dollars more than needed to pay the contracts let and the materials bought. We leave it to the' Lord and to you to make sure that roof materials, pews, heating and lighting fixtures will be available when needed. And how about us four as individuals? Busy, yes, but in reasonably good health for the most part. Helen jeeps about with patients for ·hospital, or worshippers with no transportation; Joan continues her job . in Kayenta but gets home week-ends and other times when poss ible; Br. Juniper has to watch his old ticker but does plenty in between times, especially in directing workmen on the construction. Fr. Liebler--we11, what do you expect of an octogenarian starting on his fifth--or is it seventh?--church building? He again asks your indulgence for neglected correspondence. A last "non-commercial": Have you seen the JESUS POi-lER button? Wear yours to witness to the only Power not aiming at any racial control, the Power given to our Lord in Heaven and in earth; through it "we shall overcome!" 10_ ~ach, Box 122, Kayenta, Arizona 86033. 'God bless you all abundantly! |
