Show 1 IwlE USUALLY start our Easter News-letter with the story of Christmas - that is one of the .sad features of being a quarterly periodical. But we pause Qnly to say that Christmas was "bigger and b~tter", in that there were more people at lVlass, more participated in the archery contest, more partook of the dinner; and it is well that our generous State Fi.sh and Game authorities sent us more venison and Vitakist ,sent more bread and cake, so that none ' was turned away hungry. At this time we look forward eagerly to a visit from our Bishop at the end of April. We hope that he will be able to go to Navajo Mountain for the first time and there confirm our converts, and that he will confirm here and at San Juan Bautista Church at Montezuma Creek. We hope to have full details in our Summer Newsletter. 'i1 ELOCATION, the policy of the Govern~ ment to transplant Navahos to different parts of the country, involves us in a different type of pastoral ministry, done by mail and by prayer. Our efiorts have been to interest the clergy in the nearest parish, and to get our People introduced to the local congrega tion. Our success so far has been negligible. Some of ·the Clergy, alas, don't even answer our letters, some are too busy, some finally get around to doing something just after our Navajo family has moved to another re-Iocation. By rare good chance, or by Providence, one of our "reloca tees" was sent to San Jose, California, and we found out about it in time to write to a college student there who had . been among our Summer workers. She had him on the telephone within a few minutes of getting our letter, introduced him to the Rector, to the Canterbury Club. IT CAN BE DONE. It is hard for you to realize what it means to ashy, semi-schooled, non Aryan individual or family to be suddenly thrust into an alien culture, friendless, and in some areas avoided or actually insulted by neighbors. The Church alone can give the type of friendly welcom'e these people need. To be .sure, the relocated Navajo can find friends |
