Show 5 the Mission, two of our workers finally found a family who have been faithfully signing their children "Episcopal" in the government schools, but whose camp, deep in a remote canyon inaccessible even to a jeep, we hadn't been able to locate. The friendly but shy mother seemed delighted and grateful for medication and clothing, obviously much needed, although she asked for nothing. They have no transportation, and have to get their water from considerable distance. Unable also to get to any of our services, they were delighted to have Father Moulton conduct an informal prayer service. They listen, on their little battery set, to our weekly broadcast in Navajo, and so have acquired what might be called a "working knowledge" of the content of Christian revelation. . . . and the Padre "wraps it up": ill MUST mention two people most of you don't know. Bill Watkinson is taking a year out of college to learn ethnology and advanced kettle-and-pot cleaning, with a few other extracurricular activities. Agnes Ditson has taken over the kitchen thus releat;ing Brother Juniper for the specially skilled labors that he alone can do. We welcome them both, and they both take this opportunity to send greetings to their hosts of friends. Many of you who have ordered copies of "When We Look Around Us" have expressed their anxiety at not getting their copies. The publishers, Exposition Press, have now given their solemn word that the book will be a vailable not later than December 24. The address is 386 Park Avenue South, New York 16. An excellent Christmas gift - "if I do say it as shouldn't." In our Autumn Newsletter we told of the Alhambra, California, work crew whu did the roof on the Pontious' future home. \:Vhen the bill came in for the lumber and roofing paper, we had to borrow to meet it, and the building has not progressed since. -We rest secure in the hope that our readers will take very seriously their opportunity of sharing in our work to -a very generous degree at this season of generosity when the world rejoices in the generous Gift of God to the world of His Only Begotten Son. ) |
