Show At Montezuma Creek ... last month, a glorious witness was held . The last newsletter told of our hopes there for this year. On Ash Wednesday, when the public school let out at 3 :30, three Mission cars and four teachers were on hand. 50 pupils crowded into the cars to be taken to our classes. The younger children went with Nick and Catherine to a hogan near Ben Whitehorse's home, in which a warm fire had been built ; lessons were learned sitting on the ground. The older youngsters went with F ather Wayne and Kay to the little church which, too, was already warm from the f ire in the wood stove. After classes in church ended, all went outside for games. We waited for the smaller children, which soon piled out of Nick's vehicle. Families began to arrive for the Holy Communion service at five. 80 were then given ashes, Mass was celebrated, and at the end four little ones were baptized and added to God's Holy Family. Ella Thomas interpreted the sermon on Ashes and the Sign of the Cross. Promptly f ires were built outside on the ground and the women set to work making fry bread and cooking weinel's. After eating together and taking children home, the Mission staff arrived home at 10 :30 p.m. These pictures tell the story far better than words. This year the Montezuma Creek People can take the first step on their own with workers there and a refinished building. Can you help? Finally. • • • • some quick news. We are off to Navajo Mountain and Oljeto in an hour. Mrs. Joyce and son Ronald have joined the staff ; they come from Milwaukee.
