Show ,4 ELSEWHERE in this issue you will find the latest formal portraits of Father Liebler and Father Wayne - look closely, for in spite of his retirement, you will see that Father Liebler is not the oldster you might have imagined, and in spite of his new appointment, Father Wayne is not the youngster, either! and while we are on the subject, many inquiries have come to us asking for Father Liebler's forwarding address. While not exactly an obvious conclusion, many of our friends have taken his retirement to mean departing from the Mission to a more secluded and inactive life. Hardly the case at all! Father will remain on to guide the new Vicar around dangerous corners, teach him the Navajo language, write, and most of all, to be with "his" people whom he has served for these many years. Many of you know that next year will be the twentieth anniversary of the founding of St. Christopher's Mission. We would like our 1963 year of anniversary to be known the world over, bringing the plight of the Navajo to the attention of all. Already we are thinking of projects along this line and ways that you may share in thi s happy occasion. Your presence at St. Christopher's Day, July 25, 1963, heads the list, but as this will be impossible for many, we are preparing a monthly project list which will be sent upon request. Many of you have already received copies as "thank yous" for your contributions and packages - if you get more than one, please pass it on to someone else interested in us. Shortly we will have display kits available for showing to your organization which includes Navajo dolls, cradle boards, r ugs, pictures of the Mission and literature telling of our history, goals and future. They also will be sent for the asking. I T occurred to us that you would like to hear more details of our campaign to grow and serve our people better. First of all, we have in mind that if only the right person could be contacted, that is, someone to whom $10,000 wouldn't be any sort of hardship, that our initial stage could be a simple one. Aside from your generous contributions, this is the push we need to get underway. Someone, somewhere could and would be happy to help us out. Also, in response to several requests, we are printing at the end of this N'ewsletter a proper bequest form to be included in wills. Several fr iends have told us of our inclusion already. What better way to aid God's work than in continued living service and witness? 5 We would like to tell you of some of our own individual efforts, too. Brother J uniper was privileged recently to attend and give the benediction at the dedication of the Four Corner's Monument where Arizona, Utah, New Mexico and Colorado meet - he stood in the corner of our "parish" while dOing so! A Ford automobile TV ad will show the Mission soon. Both will be on TV shortly. In October, Brother will be in the Pacific Northwest lecturing on the Mission and the Navajo people. Be sure and see him if you can. For time and date in your area, write or call The Rev. Harold G. P. Kappes, 1501 Thirty-second Avenue South, Seattle 44, Washington, phone EAst 4-3072. During the coming few months a half hour program on TV will be featured in the Chicago area. Near the first of the year, Father Liebler'S new book will be available. So as they say, watch your local paper for time and station. Of course, our unsung heroes Helen, Joan and Margaret continue the day to day plugging which is even more essential to this Redemptive work. YES, we praise autumn and the blessings it brings. Cool nights and brilliant days. The Mission bell crisply ringing. Chanting the psalms for the day. Our Holy Sacrifice early in the morning. Steaming oatmeal for breakfast. The yellow flash of the school bus to Bluff. Children'S voices. The sound of hammers. Jeep rides to outstations. Children's faces in the religious education classes. ViSiting the people. New things learned. Vespers at evening. Supper chats. A tiring day. Peaceful sleep.
