Sir: ' ' I have the honor to acknowledge receipt of your letter of October 15, relative to complaint that Indians of Utah are killing deer illegally in eolorado. The absence of a number of Indiana from thi3 Reservation 7/as discovered, and upon inquiry it was found that many of them had gone to nouglas Creek, Colorado, and were hunting deer in that; vicinity. Pone of these Indiana have permit from this Agency to go. on this hunt, and all of them left the reservation withythe knowledge of the former Supervisor in Charge, Mr. Partin. Upon discovering that a number of Indians were absent from the Reservation and that they were hunting, policemen were immediately sent to call them in upon the Reservation. These policemen have now been absent on the trip, I believe, three day3 and we should soon know the results of the orders sent to the Indians to return.
