Show I ~*>.T..I f-".l.y*T»r*' - - ,,.: - A- - , ."- the long delay that will probably result in the appeal of this cese to the Supreme Court of the United States, I am inclined to agree with the Indians in their view of the matter, that the interest which would be derived from the present fund, for which judgment hes been rendered, namely, £3,400,000.00, will be sufficient for their needs, and request that further action in this case, insofar as concerns the White Eirer and Uintah Indians, cease, and that these Indians be.paid their annuities from this sum,- $3,400,000.00. It is requested that I be adrised at as early a date as possible just what action the Department has tal<en, or intends to take in the future, relatire to the further pressing of this claim, and as regards the abore stated request of the Indians in Council. Very respectfully,, "Captain 1st Cavalry, Acting U., S. Indian Agent |
