Show DEPARTMENT OP THE INTERIOR, UNITED STATES INDIAN SERVIOB, j ON \ \ Pine Ridge Agency, S. D. ^ July 6, 1906. "^ Capt, C. 3. Hall, Acting -U. S. Indian Agent, Whiterocks, Utah. Sir: Your letter of June 29th, just receired. In reply will say that about eight days ago, our Tanner at White Clay station eighteen miles north of agency reported that 20 or 25 Indians had arrlred that morning from Wyoming or Montana and that they were without passes. The Farmer was Instructed to inform the Indiana that they would not he allowed to remain on the reserraton unless they secured permission by wire from their Agent. The Indians left the station and nothing more was heard about the matter until your letter reached me. As near aa I can learn these Indians are still on the reaerration at a point about 35 miles north of the Agency. A squad of police were sent out this morning to round them up and head them for home. Ho doubt thiB bunch of Indians are utes, altho they claimed to be from Wyoming. No communication has been receired from the Indian Office in regard to the matter. Respectfully. lic/u/ jyy A/sty ayy U. S. Indian Agent. ** ^ |
