Show »!» making a friendly treaty with the different Tribes assembled there, with whom they had been at war for a long time. The Unita Tribe it has not been in my power to visit yet, but from the best information that I can get, they are friendly disposed towards the Whites, and are very ansious that the Government will authorise a Treaty to be held for the various Tribes inhabiting Utah Territory, that they may come to a friendly understanding with each other; and in case of injuries inflicted by the different Tribes, they may have some one to look to for redress. On the 16th of August last, when on my way to Fort Laramine I was compelled to buy a pair of horses and drew upon the department of Washington when I arrived at the Fort. I turned them over to the Quartermaster, to be herded, until my return, with the Government herd by the orders of Col. Mitchell, when nearly ready to return, upon making inquiries for my horses, I could obtain no information with regard to them, but it was supposed tkat they had gone to Fort Leavenworth as all the Government horses had been sent off there. I draw up a description of thehorses, with the certificate of two responsible witnesses,, of the delivery of them, to the Government Herader, and delivered it to Mr. King, the Quartermaster's Clerk at Fort Leavenworth. 1 In submitting the above for your acceptance.
