This tribe is' formed from num-bers of different Utah and Shoshone bands, the Utah element largely predominating in their languagel v d nnmbers about.. 650 2. Goship, or Qosha Utes. This tribe is sxmllarly formed to that last named, the Shoshone element, however, largely predomi-nating. There are also numerous Bannock words in their lan-guage, and mmy Goships marry Bannock squaws. They num-berabout ................................................. 1100 1 3. Mixed bauds of Bannocks and Shoshones. About three-fourths of this tribe are Shoshones, and one-fourth Bannocks. This tribe, as its name in(licates, is formed from the two tribes last mentioned. Its members speak a laugnage mostly of Sho-shone words, although some of the more recent additions t~ the . band speak only the Bannock tongue. In a subsequent portion of this report; under the head of Indian depredations, is given an ncco~uot f an inter-view with some of the principal chiefs of this tribe, who were thus for the first time brought into intercourse with the whites npon the western slope of the Wasatch mountains.
