Sir: ;. • Testimony in the matter of the proposed enrollment of Mrs. Kate Rlohardson of Keams Canyon Ariz, as a member of the Uintah band of Ute Indians of this reservation has now been taken from the throe Indians who claim t o know hor. Copies of the affidavits aro enolosed herewith. . The question was taken up with the Indians, in council a large majority of them being present. There was considerable conversation among the Indians themselves which was not interpreted. There was much sentiment expressed among them against enrolling the daughter of Mr s . Rlohardson, but none against the enrollment of Mrs. Richardson herself. David Copperfield explained to the Indians wist he and Wanrodes and David's s i s t e r , Twopins, thought they knew about the case and t h e i r reasons for believing that Mrs. Richardson is a f u l l blood Ute and a r e l a t i ve A A |
