S i r : - I have the honor, in the absence of Agent Byrnes who has gone to Meeker, Col., to confer with General Crook and, Gov. Adams, respec t f u l l y to inform you that I have .lust received by retxirn cour i e r s from Uintah and Ouray, assurances that the I n d i a n s , including Coloi-ov/'s band, are a l l quiet and p a t i e n t l y awaiting the return of t h e i r Agent. The Uintah people are busily engaging in haying and h a r v e s t i n g t h e i r oat crop.
