Show (097) George W. Armstrong to Comm. Ind Aff. Mar 31, 1856 RG 75 Microcopy 234 Reel 898 City of Provo Territory of Utah March 31st 1856 Sir As the present vouchers may need some explanation I will proceed to do so. Voucher No. 1 is for gtain. Voucher No. 2 is for two head of beef cattle given to Peteetneets band of Indians the great scarcity of provisions and the extreme severity of the winter caused much destitution and misery among the friendly Indians. Voucher No. 3 is for grain for horses, Voucher No. 4 is for pay for groom to horses and driver for carriage in fact this individual cannot be dispensed with as I have frequent use for a teamster in hailing grain hay etc. and particularly when visiting Indian camps as it is very necessary that some trusty person should have charge of the horses at such time. Voucher No. 5 is for stationary- It would be a great gratification if the Department would forward me some blank bills as well as the large size blanks as paper of the large size cannot be had within Territory and it was with much difficulty that I could borrow enough to make out my accounts for the present quarter. Voucher No. 6 is for presents to Indians, |
