Title Algebraic theory of D-Modules
Date 2019
Description We give an undergraduate-readable exposition of the theory of D-modules. D-modules play an important role in advanced mathematics, but they rarely get explained at the undergraduate level. We begin by briefly overviewing the necessary algebraic preliminaries that the reader is expected to be familiar with in Section 1. Next, in Section 2, we will develop in more detail some ideas from commutative algebra which are necessary for the study of D-modules. In Section 3 we will finally introduce the ring D of differential operators and ways of understanding D-modules. Lastly, in Section 4, we define a notion of dimension on D-modules, and show that this dimension is bounded above and below.
