Show SUMMARY The status of EPA's N0X control technology development program can be summarized as follows: a. Based on projected fuel trends, N0X emissions may increase significantly with current technology. b. More effective stationary source control technology can provide a means of mitigating this emission trend. c. The combustion modification techniques under development offer the potential for achieving significant N0X reductions without adverse effects on other pollutants. d. These high levels of control can also be achieved at relatively low cost and without degradation of thermal efficiency. e. If extremely low levels of N0X are required, advanced combustion technology and supplemental techniques such as ammonia injection and flue gas treatment are also under development.
