Description Effective communication systems are crucial for ensuring timely and efficient patient care in healthcare settings. However, outdated call light systems can pose significant challenges, leading to interoperability issues and affecting both patient outcomes and staff satisfaction. This study addresses the compatibility issues between the call light system and the phone system in a large Level I trauma hospital, aiming to improve patient care delivery and enhance operational workflows. Methods: The project employs a systematic approach guided by the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycle framework. The intervention involves implementing comprehensive system updates, evaluating system performance through data collection and analysis, and continuously improving the system based on insights gained from evaluation. Data on call light answering time averages, trouble tickets related to call light problems, and patient and employee satisfaction is collected and analyzed to assess the effectiveness of the intervention. Results: The implementation of call light system updates is currently underway, with a systematic approach ensuring a well-coordinated process. Upon completion, the focus will shift towards evaluating system performance using quantitative and qualitative metrics. Initial findings indicate promising progress towards improving communication efficiency and staff satisfaction. Conclusions: The ongoing project to update the call light system demonstrates a commitment to enhancing patient care delivery and staff satisfaction in healthcare settings. By addressing compatibility issues and improving system functionality, the project aims to create a more responsive and patient- centered care environment. The systematic approach employed, along with rigorous data collection and analysis, ensures evidence-based decision-making and fosters a culture of continuous improvement within the organization.
