Description It was the purpose of this study to present a detailed discussion of three years' experience in implementing, developing, and conducting an outdoor summer science program. The specific objectives of this study were to: 1. Discuss the philosophy and origin of the program. 2. Present the organization and development of a successful outdoor science program. 3. Report the activities carried on during the program period , 4. Indicate some of the results of the program after a three year period. 5. Provide some stimulation and direction for organizing and developing similar programs in other school districts throughout the -State . This study presents a comprehensive discussion of the philosophy and origin, the organization, and the activities involved in implementing, organizing, and conducting a summer science program in . the Uinta; Mountains for the, Granite School District during the, summers of 1964, 1965, and 1966 .. It consisted of collecting, discussing" and evaluating all the records kept pertaining to the philosophy, organization, activities, problems, changes, and some of the important results of the three year existence of the' summer- science program. The primary purpose of this study was to present the program developed in the Granite School District as an incentive and a guide to other school districts which seek to provide additional opportunities for functional learning to their students.
