Show E. BRUCf Mel FF ... A dyed in the wool "rise and shout" cougar, this father of two children hails from Sterling, Utah, that thriving metropolis 4.7 miles to the south of Manti. After attending two quarters of school at Snow College in Ephraim, he was called to the Southern California Mission of the LOS Church and found the climate so much to his liking that he stayed long enough after his mission to meet and marry his wife, Emma Lou, who convinced him that he should go back to school and become a doctor. He attended BYU for three years where he was vice-president of the Academics Emphasis Committee, taught quantitative analysis and genetics labs and graduated in 1964 with a major in Zoology. His accomplishments in medical school are numerous including shooting a fine 37 on the University golf course, lots of basketball and pool at the V.A. Hospital and never missed an opening day of fishing or deer hunting. "Mclff's lines" will remind classmates of his favorite radiological diagnosis. His future plans include a straight medicine internship and a probable residency in ENT and as much time as possible on the Madison River in Montana. CRAIG H. McQUEEN ... Craig, a native of Price, Utah, graduated from Salt Lake's East High School in 1957. His undergraduate studies at the U. of U. eventually terminated with a B.S. Degree; his studies had been· prolonged by a 2½ year break to participate in other-worldly activity in the LOS South German Mission. In June 1963 he married Ann and they now have a daughter, Melissa. His summers have been spent with the Public Health Department and with Dr. Homer Warner in cardiovascular research. Among Craig's medical school accomplishments are included: the rescue and rehabilitation of a chipmunk (supposedly without cerebrospinal fluid); raking leaves arour'ld apartment buildings; being photographed presenting a case to an R.N.; standing high enough in the class to deserve an AOA membership; and acquiring a two-page advertisement in the daily Utah Chronicle. Craig plans on a mixed Medicine-Pediatrics internship followed by an Orthopedic Surgery residency. 24 |
