Description This thesis contains a general history of Intermountain School, Brigham City, Utah. There are five chapters, of which each covers a significant part of the School's history. Chapter one discusses "Administrative Development and Change" relating to education of Navajo youth as the major goal and objective of the School A large number of people are employed and are encouraged toward self-improvement through educational opportunities provided by the Schools Congressional appropriation supports the School, and there are various forms of public relation activities carried out. Chapter two concerns "The Intermountain Student" and deals with how students are selected and escorted to and from the Reservation A high number of students have graduated and placed successfully on jobs during the School's history, Chapter three, "Academic Development and Change," is given major emphasis in this thesis, ,and discusses the academic philosophy and program The three educational programs discussed are The Special Six, Eight, and Accelerated Twelve Year Programs which have existed at various times in the School's history. Outstanding programs developed are the Core and 89-10 programs., Chapter four describes "Vocational Development and Change" relating to philosophy and goals, plus the five major vocational programs of industrial arts, trade and industry, technical education. business education. and driver education. Chapter five describes "Socialization and Acculturation Development and Change" as it relates to the physical, mental, emotional, intellectual􁪽 and religious growth of the student. The Guidance Department is described concerning its methods of leadership development and student governmental opportunities. The School's enrichment programs of Scouting, exchange, music and drama, movies and dance, field trips, arts & crafts and Religious ins trust Lon are described. Included in the appendices are letters, biographical sketches, financial statement, and organizational charts.
