Description This study attempts to understand the experiences of Latinx first-generation college students as they transition to college. This transition is often difficult because these students must navigate both academic and familial pressures as they make the transition from high school to college. This research grounded in Critical Race Theory and Community Cultural Wealth, aims to highlight the lived experience of Latinx first-generation students transitioning to college and carrying the weight and pressure of their non-English-speaking immigrant parents. Through a series of interviews, I analyzed how these students experienced the space between these two tensions. Ultimately, I found that there are ways in which this experience affects their views on higher education, their academic performance, and their persistence in college.
