This study details the shaping of women's property rights in the United States as it proceeds from the American Revolution. This specific event formed multiple political, social, and legal standards that are both visible and unseen in the postmodern United States. The associated literature for review includes acts, speeches, and legislation from the time period as well as the accounts of changes in women's property rights throughout the time after. Arguments are supported through primary source documentation. The American Revolution set in motion paradigm shifts for women of the new United States that include legal independence and autonomy in the home and workspaces. Current legislation and social norms are dictated by the original sources from the American Revolution which makes it critical to conversations being had now about the future of women's rights in the nation.
