Utah means, "People of the Mountains". This refers to the Utes that lived here before any of us. The mountains were here as a shelter and a resource for the native americans, for the pioneers that settled later in the Salt Lake Valley, for all of us that live here in Utah today, and they will still be here for anyone that will live in Utah in the future. The colors red, white, and blue, show that we as Utah people are proud to also be apart of the United States. The Golden Circle in the middle symbolizes eternity for the state of Utah and the eternity of the mountains, it is also taken from and acts as a representation of the previous flag that has served us for so long. The half snow half bare mountains represent the great recreation that our mountains provide, both in summer and in winter. The angles on the flag, represent each corner of the state. Whichever corner of the state we come from, the mountains are something that ties all of the Utah people together. No matter who we are, what race we are, what religion we are, or how long we have lived in Utah, we all have the mountains in common. We are ALL the people of the mountains!
