This report on Energy Developments in Utah is designed to provide local, state, federal and private sector decision makers with current information on existing and planned energy developments in the State. Rather than focussing on the demand or supply for energy resources in the State, this report focusses on the identification of existing and planned projects in the State and the presentation of information concerning each project, e.g., employment levels, production capacity, technology utilized, and estimated timing of the project. While the report represents a milestone in the collection and presentation of all types of energy development information in a single document, the value of this concept will be determined by future publications. As this series progresses, new entrants into Utah's energy future, existing developments which suspend or close operations, and the progression of previously identified planned projects will be profiled. In essence, the publication of each annual report will represent a tracking of existing and proposed energy developments in the State. Revisions in each project's time frame for development will be identified. Reductions or expansions in work forces will be reported. Throughout the publication of this series, decision makers and planners will be able to continually modify their expectations concerning energy developments in Utah by referring to a single document. |
