Title Solvent extraction of tar sand
Date 1979-02-13
Description An extraction process for recovering bitumens from tar sands in which the tar sand is mixed with a hot hydrocarbon solvent, for example, toluene, in order to evaporate substantially all the water contained in the tar sands. The tar sands-solvent mixture is then separated into two phases of fine and coarse sand. Two centrifuging steps are then used to recover the bitumen from the fine sand phase.
